Fatherless Advice, King Charles warned Prince William ‘don’t make the mistakes that I made’ in marriage: expert….Read More
King Charles offered up a candid piece of marriage advice to his eldest son, Prince William, according to a royal author.
The monarch, 76, has been married to Queen Camilla since 2005 — but their relationship timeline wasn’t all that straightforward.
“[His father] said, ‘Look, William, there’s nothing more important than your family,’” royal author Ingrid Seward told Fox News
Don’t make the mistakes that I made,’” Seward claimed Charles had told the future king. “I just did duty, duty, duty. I neglected my marriage, and look what happened.’”
The Post has reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment.
Charles first met Camilla at a polo match in 1970. However, despite the duo growing close, the then-Prince of Wales was deployed to serve eight months in the Royal Navy.
The service interrupted their would-be romance, prompting Camilla to marry her longtime boyfriend Andrew Parker Bowles just three years later.
After learning that Camilla had tied the knot, Charles married Lady Diana Spencer — Prince William and Harry’s mother — in 1981. The pair’s ill-fated marriage was plagued with various scandals, including Charles’ infidelity.
In 1995, Camilla had divorced Parker Bowles, shortly before Charles’ divorce from Diana was finalized the following year. In 1997, Diana was tragically killed in a car crash. She was 36.
William, for his part, had met Kate Middleton during his time as a student at St. Andrews University in Scotland back in 2001.
During their time at the university, the pair had moved in together with friends, before eventually moving out as a twosome in 2003.
The pair’s romance became public knowledge the following year. However, the couple split in 2007 after nearly five years of dating.
After months of figuring things out, the duo eventually found their way back to each other, and reconciled later that year before William, 42, ultimately popped the all-important question in 2010.
After tying the knot in 2011, the pair went on to welcome three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Seward added that King Charles has always been a “big supporter” of the pair’s relationship, and encouraged William to prioritize family time over duty after Middleton’s cancer diagnosis came to light.
Princess Catherine, 42, revealed her diagnosis to the world in March. It followed the king’s own cancer diagnosis, which was revealed in February.
The Princess of Wales has since declared she is cancer free.
